The authority locked the main gates of the amusement park and hung a notice there.

RDC executive magistrate N-Uamong Marma Mong and executive magistrate Rakibul Islam led the operation under the direction of Chattogram deputy commissioner (DC) Abul Bashar Mohammad Fakruzzaman.

“The land belongs to the Ministry of Defence. This violates the conditions under which Chattogram City Corporation was allowed to use the land and the lease of the Shishu Park has been sealed and the land has been handed over to the concerned authorities,” said RDC executive magistrate N-Uamong Marma Mong.

Different social and cultural organisation has been protesting for years including human chain demonstration and rally to demand the removal of the park in the Circuit House area due to its significance in the Liberation War.

They demanded to establish a Liberation War monument at the location and an open green terrace for the public.

Freedom fighters hoisted the first flag of an independent Bangladesh in Chattogram in front of the Circuit House on Dec 17, 1971. The freedom fighters were tortured by electric chair in this place and the victory fair of the liberation war began there. The heroic freedom fighters used to commemorate the victory stage.
