Chittagong Medical College (CMC) Hospital is going to build a 150-bed burn and plastic surgery unit with funding from China.
The agreement will be signed between Bangladesh and China on Monday.
The proceedings were signed in the conference room of the CMC Hospital on Saturday morning. Director of CMC Hospital Shamim Ahsan, and Secretary of the Chinese Embassy in Bangladesh Xi Chen, were present at the conference.
Shamim Ahsan said, “CMC Hospital has a burn and plastic surgery unit but lacks modern equipment and also there is a shortage of beds.”
“The Chinese government will fund a 150-bed burn and plastic surgery unit for CMC Hospital, which will be equipped with modern equipment to treat burn patients.”
“The unit will have 2 modern operation theatres, 10 Intensive Care Unit (ICU) beds, and 25 High Dependency Unit (HDU) beds. The units will be managed by CMC Hospital Authority,” he added.
Xi Chen said if everything goes well, the hospital will be built within 22 months of signing the contract.
