The Ministry of Home Affairs has suspended firearms licenses issued to civilians for the past 15 years. At the same time, civilian licensees have been ordered to submit firearms, along with ammunition, to their nearest police station.
A circular, issued on Sunday night and signed by home ministry Senior Information Officer Faisal Hasan, added that licenses issued to civilians from January 6, 2009 to August 5, 2024 have been suspended.
Civilians are requested to surrender their firearms, along with ammunition, to the nearest police station by September 3.
