Home Minister Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal said a three-member probe committee has been formed to investigate the killing of a retired Bangladesh Army officer on Friday night.
He disclosed the information on Sunday while speaking to the media at his Dhanmondi residence, adding that it will not be right to comment on this matter until the probe is complete as it might hamper the investigation process.
Asked whether any police officer has been suspended, the minister said talks are going on but every move will be taken after the investigation.
About celebration of Eid-ul-Azha, Kamal said the religious festival has been celebrated in a peaceful and safe manner as no untoward incident took place anywhere in the country, thanks to the restless efforts of the law enforcement agencies.
About the claims of IS responsibility over the recent blast incident at Pallabi police station, the minister said it was a speculation as the militants did the sabotage and carried out the propaganda.
He also claimed the law enforcement agencies are doing a good job under pressure so that people can enjoy the Eid holidays without any fear.
Earlier on July 31, police shot dead Major (retd) Sinha Md Rashed Khan reportedly for obstructing police work in Teknaf, Cox's Bazar. According to police, he was shot in self-defence.
