Company services get costlier

The government has revised the fees for obtaining 36 types of services for newly formed or registered companies, increasing the costs from two to five times their previous rates. Additionally, three other services now incur new fees as well.

However, the fees for 22 types of services have remained unchanged, retaining their previous rates. Simultaneously, the government has eliminated the fee for a specific type of service, making it free for the applicants.

Amid the prevailing economic crisis, companies will encounter financial strain as the government service fees experience an upsurge, exerting additional cost pressure on them.

Businessmen said the recent increase in government fees will add to the existing challenges and hurdles, contradicting the government’s proclaimed efforts to facilitate ease of doing business. Instead of easing the burden, the imposition of additional fees will intensify the cost pressure on businesses, making it more difficult for them to navigate through various obstacles.

The Directorate of Joint Capital Companies and Firms (RJSC) under the Ministry of Commerce has updated the fee rates charged against providing 66 types of services, which has been gazetted on July 9.

The registration fee for new company formation has been revised, now standing at Tk 5,000 instead of the previous Tk 1,000. Furthermore, the fee for recording changes in the firm’s name and principal business location has been raised from Tk 200 to Tk 500. Similarly, the registration fee for alterations or dissolution of a firm has increased from Tk 500 to Tk 1,000, while the error correction fee has been adjusted from Tk 200 to
Tk 500.

The fee for registering a Society has been raised from Tk 10,000 to Tk 15,000. Additionally, the cost for document registration has been adjusted to Tk 800, replacing the previous fee of Tk 400. For documents verification, the new fee is Tk 400, up from the earlier Tk 200. Lastly, obtaining a copy of the registration certificate now requires a payment of Tk 500, as opposed to the previous fee of Tk 200.

The minimum fee rate has been changed to Tk 500 instead of Tk 200. The cost of obtaining permission for the name of society has been doubled and fixed at Tk 2000.

If the company’s share capital exceeds Tk10 lakh, the fee for registration up to Tk50 lakh has been increased from Tk 50 to Tk 80 per lakh. And for the amount above Tk50 lakh, instead of Tk80 rupees per lakh, it has been made Tk130.

The fee for filing a memorandum of association has been increased from Tk500 to Tk 1000, for other documents Tk 500 instead of Tk 200 and the fee for recording any matter required or permitted by the registrar has been made Tk400 instead of Tk300.
