The government has decided to compensate only the families of civil servants dying from Covid-19.
The decision came from a meeting at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) two days ago.
Reliable sources from the meeting confirmed the matter to The Business Post.
The finance ministry will issue necessary guidelines soon, said the sources.
An official at the finance division said they have recieved around 15 applications till date, seeking compensation.
The government earlier said in a notification issued on April 23 that the civil servants, doctors, nurses, health workers, administrators, law enforcers, armed forces members contacting Covid-19 while discharging duty will get government compensation.
