Students are carrying out a “Complete Shutdown” programme across the country on Thursday, demanding justice for those who were attacked, punishment for those involved in the attack, terror-free campuses, and quota reform for government jobs.

Asif Mahmud, one of the coordinators of Boisommo Birodhi Chatra Andolon, had made this announcement on Wednesday.

Asif said, "We are announcing a 'Complete Shutdown' on July 18, seeking justice for the brutal attacks on the peaceful movement by students by the police, BGB, RAB, SWAT, murders of protesters, terror-free campuses and our one point demand.

"Only hospitals and emergency services will continue to operate, no vehicles ply the roads except for ambulances. We are calling on every school, college, university, private university, and madrasa students across the country to make the programme successful.”

Calling upon the parents and guardians, Asif said, “We are your children. Stand by us, protect us. This fight is not only for the students, but for the people of this country, regardless of party affiliation.”
