Constant effort needed for solving problems of judiciary: Obaidul Hassan

Chief Justice Obaidul Hassan has laid emphasis on constant effort, effective mechanisms and establishing a process for solving the problems of the judiciary.

"You all please extend your helping hands in this regard with thoughtful opinions and suggestions. You can send your suggestions in writing on behalf of your respective institution or by yourself. This way, we would collect opinions and recommendations from all the stakeholders one by one. Later, we would adopt a final plan by discussing, reviewing and researching those opinions and recommendations," he said.

The chief justice said these while addressing a views exchange with incumbent and former attorney generals, present and former presidents and secretaries of the Supreme Court Bar Council on Thursday afternoon at Supreme Court Conference Room.

"The aim of this meeting is very clear. Our aim is to get rid of the corruption from the judiciary, expediting the activities of the courts, taking necessary research-based steps for increasing the standard of trial process, establishing necessary infrastructures," he added.

Justice M Enayetur Rahim, Justice Md Ashfaqul Islam, Justice Md Abu Zafor Siddique, Dr Kamal Hossain, M Amirul Islam, AF Hasan Arief, Fida M Kamal, Mohammad Eusuf Hossain Humayun, Moinul Hossain, Attorney General AM Amin Uddin, Md Momtaz Uddin Fakir, Additional Attorney Generals SM Munir, Sheikh Mohammad Morshed and Mohammad Mehedi Hasan Chowdhury, Momtaj Uddin Mehedi and Md Abdun Nur Dulal were present at the function, among others.

The chief justice later handed over some publications to senior jurists like Dr Kamal Hossain and Barrister M Amirul Islam.
