A member of the police has died after being attacked by rivals at his village home in Daudkandi upazila of Cumilla.
Noakhali District Police Lines Constable Raisul Amin Badhan, 30, was taken to the Emergency Department of Dhaka Medical College and Hospital (DMCH) around 2pm on Sunday where he was declared dead by doctors.
His mother Rokeya Begum, 50, and brother Sumon Sarkar, 32, were undergoing treatment as they were also injured in the attack, police said.
Confirming the news of death, DMCH police outpost Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) Md Masud Mia said the matter has been reported to the Daudkandi police station.
Badhan’s injured brother Sumon said 25-30 locals, including Din Islam, Manik, Saddam, Hashem, Farhad and Mehedi, attacked their house at Basra village on Sunday morning.
The attackers injured them, vandalised the house and set it on fire, he added.
