A total of 103,227 patients recovered from the novel coronavirus as of Tuesday with 4,910 new recoveries in the country over the last 24 hours.
Besides, 33 patients died from Covid-19 and 3,163 more people tested positive for the virus to date, taking the death toll to 2,424 and the total number of confirmed cases to 190,057.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,988 samples were collected and 13,453 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 966,400 samples have been tested in the country.
The deceased, of whom 23 were males and 10 females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 31-40, four between 41-50 years, six between 51-60 years, nine between 61-70, 11 between 71-80 and one was between 81-90 years.
Under division-wise categorisation, 13 hailed from the Dhaka division, five each from Khulna and Sylhet, four from Rajshahi, three from Chattogram, two from Rangpur and one was from the Barishal division.
29 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas four died at home.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 571,840 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 13,061,792 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,963,854 infected patients, 4,904,973 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,881 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 7,221,190 people have recovered.
