A record 549 more people tested positive for novel coronavirus in Bangladesh over the last 24 hours, which makes 6,462 confirmed cases in total. Besides, three more people died, taking the toll to 155.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday.
She said, a total of 4,309 samples were collected in the last 24 hours. Of those, 4,332 were tested including some untested samples collected earlier.
Dr Nasima mentioned that all three of the deceased were aged over 60 years and were from Dhaka.
Eight more people have recovered from the disease in the last 24 hours, she said. So far, a total of 139 patients have recovered from the disease.
Meanwhile, global confirmed cases of novel coronavirus transmission have crossed three million on Tuesday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.
Besides, the death toll due to Covid-19 reached 211,167.
So far, there have been a total of 3,041,517 confirmed cases around the world after Covid-19, the highly contagious disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Of those infected, 1,930,301 are currently being treated and 56,300 of them are in serious or critical condition, says worldometer.
So far, 893,967 people have recovered.
