33 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Tuesday, taking the death toll to 3,471.

Besides, 2,996 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 263,503 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday afternoon.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 15,317 samples were collected and 14,820 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,227,988 samples have been tested in the country.

With 1,535 new recoveries, a total of 151,972 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.

The deceased, of whom 28 were males and five females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 11-20 years, five between 31-40, two between 41-50, five between 51-60 years, 14 between 61-70, three between 71-80 and three were between 81-90 years of age.

Under division-wise categorisation, 15 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, five each from Chattogram and Rajshahi, four from Rangpur, three from Khulna and one from Mymensingh.

30 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and the remaining three died at home.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 734,664 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.

Moreover, 20,011,186 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.

So far, 12,218,090 people have recovered.
