39 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Monday, taking the death toll to 3,438.
Besides, 2,907 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 260,507 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Monday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 12,855 samples were collected and 12,849 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,273,168 samples have been tested in the country.
With 2,067 new recoveries, a total of 150,437 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 35 were males and four females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 0-10 years, one between 21-30, one between 31-40, three between 41-50, ten between 51-60 years, 13 between 61-70, six between 71-80 and four were between 81-90 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, 12 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, six from Khulna, seven from Chattogram, eight from Rajshahi, three from Mymensingh one from Rangpur and two from the Barishal division.
31 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and the remaining eight died at home.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 729,692 as of Monday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 19,778,566 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
So far, 12,038,878 people have recovered.
