47 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Sunday, taking the death toll to 2,352.
Besides, 2,666 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 183,795 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Sunday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 11,210 samples were collected and 11,059 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 940,524 samples have been tested in the country.
With 5,580 new recoveries, a total of 93,614 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 36 were males and 11 females, belonged to the following age groups: one was between 11-20 years, two between 21-30, three were between 31-40, four between 41-50 years, 15 between 51-60 years, 14 between 61-70, six between 71-80 and two were between 81-90 years.
Under division-wise categorisation, 23 hailed from the Dhaka division, six each from Chattogram and Khulna, four each from Rajshahi and Sylhet, and two each from the Barishal and Rangpur divisions.
43 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas four died at home.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 564,420 as of Sunday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 12,681,472 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,795,747 infected patients, 4,736,915 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,832 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 6,980,671 people have recovered.
