A policeman, who was in quarantine after coming into contact with suspected coronavirus patients, died on Tuesday night.
Mohammad Jasim, 40, a constable of Wari Police Station, was taken to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) at around 10:30 pm, but on-duty doctors pronounced him dead, confirmed Shah Iftekhar Ahmed, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police.
DMCH police outpost in-charge Bacchu Mia said: "Jasim was in quarantine at a hotel in the city's Fakirapool area.”
“He was brought to the hospital in a critical state. Cause of his death was not known."
So far, two police officials have died while being in quarantine in Dhaka.
The force reported that 200 police personnel have been infected with coronavirus. Apart from the infected ones, 652 others were staying in quarantine.
