Coronavirus: Bangladesh reports 17 more deaths, lowest in 4 months

Bangladesh on Friday recorded the lowest number of new deaths from Covid-19 in four months as 17 more people died from the virus and 1,278 more tested positive in the last 24 hours.

The recovery count rose to 2,89,912 after another 1,596 patients were discharged from the hospitals during the period, said a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).

“Seventeen more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 5,477,” the release said.

It said the tally of infections has surged to 3,75,870 as 1,278 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

A total of 11,256 samples were tested at 109 authorized laboratories across the country during the time.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 11.35 percent tested positive, while 18.33 percent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.

Among the total infections, 77.13 percent patients have recovered, while 1.46 percent died so far since the first Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
