35 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Tuesday, taking the death toll to 3,000.
Besides, 2,960 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 229,185 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Tuesday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,070 samples were collected and 12,714 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,137,131 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,731 new recoveries, a total of 127,414 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 26 were males and nine females, belonged to the following age groups: two were between 31-40 years, three between 41-50, ten between 51-60 years, 13 between 61-70, three between 71-80 and four were between 81-90 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, 12 hailed from the Dhaka division, five from Chattogram, four each from Khulna and Sylhet, three each from Barishal and Rajshahi and two each from Mymensingh and Rangpur divisions.
26 breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals whereas eight died at home. The remaining one was already dead when taken to the hospital.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 652,531 as of Tuesday morning, according to the data by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 16,409,902 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 5,755,467 infected patients, 5,688,890 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand 66,577 (of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 9,530,728 people have recovered.
