27 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Friday, taking the death toll to 3,333.
Besides, 2,851 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 252,502 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Friday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,253 samples were collected and 12,699 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,237,823 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,760 new recoveries, a total of 145,584 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
The deceased, of whom 24 were males and three females, belonged to the following age groups: four were between 41-50 years, six between 51-60 years, 12 between 61-70, four were between 71-80 and one was between 81-90 years of age.
Under division-wise categorisation, 13 of the deceased hailed from the Dhaka division, five from Khulna, three each from Chattogram and Rajshahi, two from Rangpur and one was from the Barishal Division.
26 of the deceased breathed their last while undergoing treatment at various hospitals and the remaining one died at home.
Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 713,406 as of Friday morning, according to the data provided by the Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
Moreover, 18,996,008 Covid-19 cases have been confirmed around the world.
So far, 12,355,145 people have recovered.
