55 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours as of Sunday, crossing the 2,000-mark with a death toll of 2,052.
Besides, 2,738 more people tested positive for the virus, which makes 162,417 confirmed cases in total.
Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Sunday afternoon.
Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 13,964 samples were collected and 13,988 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 846,062 samples have been tested in the country.
With 1,904 new recoveries, a total of 72,625 patients recovered from coronavirus to date.
Among the deceased, 37 were males and 18 females.
Meanwhile, global deaths from the novel coronavirus infection reached 528,953 as of Sunday morning, according to the data by Centre for System Science and Engineering of Johns Hopkins University.
So far, 11,199,747 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.
Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.
Among the currently 4,407,518 infected patients, 4,348,988 are in mild condition, which is 99 per cent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 58,530 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only one.
So far, 6,037,683 people have recovered.
