The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has set up a five-member Covid-19 related media cell.
The cell, formed on Thursday (April 23), is meant for monitoring and taking steps to release information, held press briefing and carry out mass awareness campaign and correct misinformation related to coronavirus issues.
The committee will also work as the focal point of the ministry, said a handout.
Md Habibur Rahman Khan, Additional Secretary to the Health Services Division, was made convener of the media cell while Md Maidul Islam Pradhan, Information and Public Relations Officer, Health Ministry, as its member secretary.
Three members of the media cell are Begum Rina Parveen, Additional Secretary (Public Health and World Health), Begum Nilufar Nazneen, joint secretary (Public Health), and Ahmed Latiful Hossain, system analyst, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare.
An office order in this regard, signed by Khandaker Zakir Hossain, Deputy Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Ministry, outlined the working areas of the committee.
Bangladesh so far confirmed 131 deaths from coronavirus and 4,689 cases.
