14 patients died from Covid-19 in the country over the last 24 hours, taking the death toll to 328. Besides, 1,273 more people tested positive, which is the highest single-day record of new infections in Bangladesh, making 22,268 confirmed cases in total.

Additional Director General (Admin) of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) Dr Nasima Sultana revealed the information at a regular online briefing on Sunday.

With 256 new recoveries, a total of 4,373 patients recovered from coronavirus till date.

Dr Nasima mentioned that a total of 8,574 samples were collected and 8,114 tested in the last 24 hours. So far, a total of 1,75,408 samples have been tested in the country.

Among the 14 deceased, 13 were males and 1 female. They belonged to the following age groups: one was aged between 11-20 years, one between 31-40, two were aged between 41-50, three between 51-60, three between 61-70, three between 71-80, one between 81-90.

Of the 14 deaths, 5 were from Dhaka city while 4 from Chittagong. The remaining 5 deaths were reported one each from Keraniganj, savar, Cumilla, Narayanganj and Shariatpur.

Meanwhile, the global death toll from the novel coronavirus infection reached 311,781 as of Sunday morning, according to the Johns Hopkins University tally.

So far, 4,634,068 cases have been confirmed around the world after Covid-19, the disease caused by the new strain of coronavirus, was first reported in China in December last year.

Although cases of new infection keep growing among the infected world population currently, most of them are in mild condition.

Among the currently 2,595,302 infected patients, 2,550,475 are in mild condition, which is 98 percent, Worldometer records in its daily updates. On the other hand, 44,827 of the currently infected patients are in serious condition, and their percentage is only two.

So far, 1,693,197 people have recovered.
