Coronavirus: Recovery rate reaches 70.14% in Bangladesh

Bangladesh on Thursday recorded 41 deaths and 1,892 fresh cases of novel coronavirus (Covid-19) infection overnight.

The recovery rate from the virus reached 70.14 per cent on Thursday after another 2,746 patients were discharged from the hospitals in the last 24 hours, boosting the number of total recoveries since March to 2,33,550. 

“Forty-one more Covid-19 patients died in the last 24 hours, increasing the death toll from the pandemic to 4,634,” a press release of the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) said today.

It said the tally of infections has surged to 332,970 as 1,892 new cases were confirmed in the last 24 hours.

A total of 15,559 samples were tested at 94 authorized laboratories across the country during the time.

Of the total sample tests in the past 24 hours, 12.16 per cent tested positive, while 19.70 per cent cases were detected from the total tests conducted so far, the release added.

Among the total infections, 1.39 per cent died so far since the first Covid-19 positive cases were reported in the country on March 8.
