Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Monday approved the charge sheet against eight people including North South University Treasurer Mohammad Shahjahan and Bangladesh University of Professionals (BUP) former treasurer Air Commodore (retd) Robiul Awal for document forgery at the Prime Minister's Office.
As the allegations fall under the jurisdiction of the ACC, the commission's Deputy Director Farid Ahmed Patwary filed a case against the eight after a Dhaka court ordered ACC to probe the case lodged over forgery, ACC Public relation office Deputy Director Muhammad Arif Sadeq told UNB.
Earlier, Police filed the charge sheet against six persons while the accused were ex-Central Chhatra League Vice-President Tariqul Islam Momin, PMO staff Fatema Khatun, Nazim Uddin, Rubel, North South University student Forhad Hossain and Bangladesh University of Professionals’ retired former treasurer Air Commodore M Abdus Salam Azad.
PMO Director-7 Mohammad Rafiqul Alam filed the case with the Tejgaon police station.
According to the case, a document with the prime minister’s decision on the three-man Education Ministry shortlist for the post of treasurer at North South University (NSU) was stolen from the PMO.
It also said PMO staffer Fatema stole the document and gave it to Farhad in front of PMO gate-4 on March 1, upon the instructions of Chhatra League leader Toriqul in exchange for Tk 20,000 by bKash for this purpose.
The forged document was then submitted to the president’s office for approval on March 3, according to the charge sheet, misrepresenting the PM's decision on who should be the treasurer.
