ACC presses charges against NCC councilor Moti, wife

The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) on Thursday submitted two separate charge sheets against Narayanganj City Corporation councilor Motiur Rahman Moti and his wife Rokeya Rahman in two cases filed on charges of amassing illegal wealth worth Tk 19.49 crore.

“The anti-graft body submitted the charge sheets to the Dhaka Special Judges Court against the couple after approval of the commission,” said ACC Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain told journalists at Segunbagicha headquarters in the capital.

According to the charge sheets, Motiur Rahman Moti, ward six councilor of Narayanganj City Corporation amassed moveable and immoveable wealth worth Tk 11.35 crore beyond known sources of income.

Apart from this, Moti also concealed information of his wealth worth Tk 6.62 crore at his wealth statement submitted to the ACC on September 7, 2021.

Beside, Rokeya Rahman amassed illegal moveable and immoveable wealth worth Tk 8.14 crore, while she also concealed information of wealth worth Tk 2.42 crore in her wealth statement.

ACC Deputy Director Mohammad Ibrahim filed the two cases against the couple with its integrated district office in Dhaka-1 on February 17 this year.
