The Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) will investigate allegations of corruption against former land minister Saifuzzaman Chowdhury, former Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) Commissioner Asaduzzaman Mia, and former DMP Detective Branch (DB) Chief Harun-or-Rashid.

ACC Secretary Khorsheda Yasmeen confirmed the matter to the media on Sunday.

The commission will investigate the trio for their alleged involvement with illegal wealth acquisition and money laundering through various irregularities and corruption.

Insiders say the process of verifying the allegations against them was going on for a long time. After finding the truth behind the allegations, the commission decided to investigate the trio.

Sheikh Hasina resigned from the post of prime minister on August 5 in the face of a mass uprising under the banner of Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon and promptly fled the country.

After that, the corruption and money laundering of ministers, MPs and government officials during Hasina’s government started to come to light.

Due to allegations of rampant corruption, the bank accounts of several people have been seized. Law enforcement agencies have already arrested several influential members of Sheikh Hasina’s government.
