Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC) Chairman Mohammad Moinuddin Abdullah on Tuesday said that the mass media should not publish news favouring any corrupt individual.

The ACC chairman made the remark while inaugurating the new office of ‘Reporters Against Corruption’ (RAC) inside the ACC headquarters in the capital’s Segunbagicha.

“Journalists should bring to light the truth, but should not write anything that harms the country as well as the nation,” he said, urging journalists to scrutinise information properly before publishing it in mass media.

“Before making a report, think about whether it will be good for the nation. Everyone should be careful so that the news does not favour any corrupt individual,” he added.

Among others, ACC’s two commissioners Dr Mozammel Haque Khan and Md Jahurul Haque, and its Secretary Md Mahbub Hossain, RAC President Mohiuddin Ahmed and General Secretary Towhid Sowrav, were present at the programme.
