A couple was burned to death in a fire that broke out at a house in Konabari of Gazipur city on Saturday.
The deceased were Shafiqur Rahman and Nasrin Akter, tenants who were from Dimla in Nilphamari.
AKM Ashraf Uddin, officer-in-charge of Konabari police station, said the fire broke out on the ground floor of the six-storey building, owned by one Sukkur Shikdar, in the early hours on Saturday.
The security guard of the building first noticed the fire and informed others.
Later, locals broke into the house and found the burnt bodies of the couple.
On information, police recovered the bodies and sent them to Shaheed Tajuddin Medical College and Hospital.
However, the cause of the fire could not be known immediately.
