Authorities at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Thursday detained a couple when they were about to board a domestic flight without declaring the ammunition they were carrying.
The couple was later handed over to airport police for violating the rules, said Group Captain AHM Touhid-ul-Ahsan, director of the airport.
“Five bullets on a magazine were detected in their luggage during scanning. They were heading for Jessore on a flight scheduled for 9:00am, he added.
“For carrying licenced weapons, it has to be declared before entering the airport,” said Touhid.
Airport police station's sub-inspector Sriram Chakrabarti said that they were investigating the matter.
