A court in Dhaka has set April 11 for the submission of investigation report in a case over the rape and murder of a University of Liberal Arts Bangladesh (ULAB) student at Mohammadpur in the capital.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nivana Khayer Jessy fixed the new date as the investigation officer of the case failed to submit the report on Tuesday.
Earlier on February 5, another court placed accused Farjana Zaman Neha, a friend of the victim, on five-day remand after arresting her from a house in the capital’s Azimpur area on February 4.
On January 31, the court placed accused Mortuja Raihan Chowdhury, Nuhat Alam Tafsir and other friends of the victim on a five-day remand each as the victim’s father filed the case with capital’s Mohammadpur police station against four including these three earlier that day.
According to the case documents, Mortuja on January 28 took the victim to Bamboo Shot Restaurant in Uttara Sector-3, where Neha and their other friends were already present and later made her drink excessive alcohol.
At one stage, the victim fell sick and Mortuja took her to their friend Tasfir’s house and raped her there. The next day, they took the victim to Ibn Sina Hospital and later Anwar Khan Modern Hospital, where she died two days later.
