A Dhaka court on Tuesday set November 4 for the submission of probe report against the former Vice-President (VP) of Dhaka University Central Students' Union (Ducsu) Nurul Haque Nur and five others on allegations of kidnap, rape, and abetment to rape charges under the Digital Security Act (DSA), and Women and Children Repression Act.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ilias Mia postponed the date of submission as the investigation officer of police was unable to submit the report on Tuesday.
Earlier on October 12, two accused, Saiful Islam and Nazmul Huda were placed on a two-day remand after detectives arrested them in a case over alleged rape of a Dhaka University student. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Morshed Al Mamun Bhuiyan passed the order of remand after DB Inspector Wahiduzzaman produced them before the court and sought seven-day remand for each of the accused.
Saiful is the Joint Convener of Bangladesh Students’ Rights Council also known as Bangladesh Sadharan Chhatra Odhikar Sangrakkhan Parishad while Nazmul is Vice-President of the platform.
Earlier on September 22, a Dhaka court ordered Inspector of Kotwali Police Station Nur Alam to investigate the case and submit a report within October 13. Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Begum Mahmuda Akter passed the order after receiving the case statement.
On September 21, a female student of Dhaka University filed the case against Nurul Haque Nur and five others on allegations of abduction, rape and violating the DSA with Kotwali police station.
The same woman also filed a rape case with Lalbagh police station against six people including Nur. However, she did not complaint about abduction and violating the DSA in the latter case.
The five other accused are -- Bangladesh Chhatra Odhikar Parishad Convener Hassan Al Mamun, 28; Joint Conveners Nazmul Hassan Shohag, 28 and Md Saiful Islam, 28; Vice-President Md Nazmul Huda, 25, and a student of Dhaka University named Md Abdullah Hill Baki, 23.
