A Dhaka court on Tuesday banned Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir to leave the country after police sought the ban in a case over the death of college student Mosarat Jahan Munia in a Gulshan flat.
Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Mohammad Shahidul Islam issued the ban accepting the police's request.
Dhaka Metropolitan Police deputy commissioner (prosecution) Zafar Hossain said that a case was filed against Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir accusing him of abetting suicide. The investigation officer in the case applied to the court to issue a travel ban against the accused and the court granted the application.
Earlier, the police found the body off Mosarat Jahan Munia, 21, of Cumilla, a flat in Gulshan on Monday night.
She was a higher secondary certificate examination candidate from Mirpur Cantonment Public School and College.
Her sister Nusrat filed a case with Gulshan police station accusing Bashundhara Group managing director Sayem Sobhan Anvir of abetting the suicide.
Mosarat used to live alone in the luxury flat on Road 120 of Gulshan. Her family resides in Cumilla town.
