A court on Thursday sent 26 students to jail for creating trouble inside the secretariat on Wednesday while demanding cancellation of “discriminatory HSC result.”
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Belal Hossain passed the order as police produced them before the court and pleaded to keep them behind the bar till completion of the probe, reports BSS.
The 26 students were identified as- Jahirul Islam, Md Foysal Hasan, Md Raihan Hossain, Md Rubel Ahammed, Md Riad Mahmud, Md Mesbaur Rahman Millat, Mehedi Hasan, Sohan (1), Imran Hossain Arman, Mehedi Hasan Ontor, Sagor, Rohan, Shahriar Hossain, Ahad Mollah, Sohan (2), Masnun Hossain, Naim, Imam Hasan, Shakil, Selim, Saqlain Mostak, Hanjalal, Moshiur Rahman, Prantik, Tasin Rahman and Robin Miah.
A group of students stormed the Bangladesh Secretariat and managed to enter into the protected area on Wednesday.
At one stage they turned unruly, raising slogans, carrying out vandalism inside the secretariat and obstructing government employees from doing their duties.
Later army and police teams intervened and dispersed them and took some of them to police custody.
A case has been filed with the capital’s Shahbagh Police Station in this connection.
