A Dhaka court on Sunday dismissed the bail petition of 161 leaders and activists of BNP including its Senior Joint Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi in a case lodged over plotting to attack policemen and inciting violence against them.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ataullah passed the order after holding a hearing on the matter.
One person was killed and several others including policemen were injured in a clash in front of the BNP central office in Nayapaltan on December 7.
Several leaders and activists of BNP including Rizvi and BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia’s special assistant Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas were arrested in police drives following the clash.
Police filed the case with Paltan Police Station against 473 and 1,500-2,000 unnamed people over the incident.
