Chief Justice orders quick disposal of old cases

Chief Justice Hasan Foez Siddique on Saturday ordered a speedy settlement of cases which are older than two decades or more.

The litigants are suffering due to these pending cases and it is damaging the image of the judiciary, the chief justice said in a meeting with judicial officers and lawyers of Jashore this morning.

Earlier, the chief justice arrived at the Jashore District and Sessions Judge Court at around 8:30 am.

He then laid the foundation stone of Naykunjar, a restroom for plaintiffs on the premises of the court. He also planted an olive tree on the court premises.

At around 10:30 in the morning, he exchanged views with the lawyers at Bhawan No 1 of the Jashore District Bar Association and gave a directional speech.

At that time, General Secretary Abu Mortaza presented him with a crest on behalf of the District Bar Association.

Among others, Special Judge Mohammad Samchul Haque, Judge Golam Kabir of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-1, Judge Mohammad Mainul Haque of Women and Child Repression Prevention Tribunal-II, Chief Judicial Magistrate Fahmida Jahangir, Additional District and Sessions Judge Joyonti Rani Das, were also present.
