The Supreme Court (SC) has made wearing traditional gowns and coats mandatory for judges and lawyers again from Sunday while appearing in lower courts.

The Supreme Court administration in a notification issued on October 18, said it is suspending the effectiveness of its earlier notification, exempting the judges and lawyers from wearing the gowns and coats due to the ongoing heat wave at that time, issued on May 13.

"The honourable judges and lawyers of subordinate courts and tribunal are being directed to wear dresses as per the provisions of Civil Rules and Order and Criminal Rules and Orders," a new notification signed by Supreme Court Registrar General Golam Rabbani said.
