A fresh case was filed on Tuesday against 135 people including ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina over the killing of Jatiotabadi Shramik Dal activist Riajul Talukder in the capital’s Jatrabari area during the recent anti-discrimination student movement.
The other prominent accused in the case are- Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Moshiur Rahman Mollah Shajal, Enamul Haque Shamim, Iqbal Hossain and Nahim Razzaq. Another 350-400 unnamed people were accused in the case, reports BSS.
Riajul’s brother Rubel Talukder filed the complaint with the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Saddam Hossain. The court, after recording the statement of the complainant, asked Jatrabari Police Station to file the matter as a first information report (FIR).
According to the case documents, hundreds of students and people brought out a procession in support of anti-discrimination student movement at around 5pm on August 4 in front of Jatrabari Police Station.
Following the direct order of Sheikh Hasina, Awami League goons and police started firing indiscriminately on the procession. Riajul got shot in the firing and later died of his injuries.
