Three lawyers have brought to the attention of the High Court the incident where five members of a family, including two children, were crushed to death after a girder of the BRT project in Uttara fell on their private car from a crane. The court asked the lawyers to file a writ petition in this regard.
The High Court bench of Justice Md Mojibur Rahman Mia and Justice Kazi Md Ejarul Haque Akondo gave this suggestion on Tuesday.
Lawyer Barrister Sayed Mahsib Hossain, Advocate Jamiul Haque Faisal, and Advocate Md Shahinuzzaman brought this situation to the court's attention, seeking a Suo Moto order from the court. The court then asked the lawyers to file a writ petition saying they will hear it.

When the court issues a rule on its own initiative to protect the fundamental rights of the citizen, it is called a Suo Moto rule.
Earlier on Monday afternoon, the five, including two children, died after one girder of the BRT project fell on their private car. A newlywed couple also traveling in the same car escaped death.
The deceased were identified as Rubel, 50, Fahima, 40, her sister Jhorna, 28, and Jhorna's two children Jannat, 6, and Jakaria, 2. The Ministry of Road Transport and Bridges formed a six-member committee to investigate the tragedy. Meanwhile, a police case has been filed in connection with the tragedy.
