The High Court (HC) on Thursday ordered to take action as per the concerned policy to stop unnecessary C-sections at private and public healthcare facilities across the country.
A High Court division bench comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Kazi Zinat Hoque passed the order, disposing of a rule issued earlier in this regard.
Barrister Rashna Imam took part in the hearing for the petitioner, while Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta stood for the state.
"As a result of this judgment, the concerned policy for stopping unnecessary C-sections will have to be followed strictly. It also called for correct monitoring, increasing awareness and storing all the data in case of C-sections," Barrister Rashna Imam told newsmen.
Bangladesh Legal Aid and Services Trust (Blast) had filed the writ.
