The High Court has directed the concerned authorities to immediately appoint 84 candidates recommended by the Public Service Commission (PSC) from the 36th, 37th, and 39th BCS examinations.

The bench of Justice Mamnoon Rahman and Justice Khandaker Diliruzzaman passed the order on Wednesday.

"The court also asked the authorities to consider the personal report before appointing the candidates, as some of them might have a case or other allegations against them," Deputy Attorney General Amit Das Gupta said, confirming the matter.

The government will file an appeal petition against this decision, he added.

84 candidates who qualified in all of the competitive examinations of 36, 27 and 39th BCS were restrained from joining their respective posts despite PSC's recommendations.

Then, the 84 candidates filed four separate writ petitions with the High Court in 2020.

Later, the same bench issued a rule in which the High Court wanted to know from the respondents to explain as to why the decision of removing the names of the writ petitioners from the gazette published for appointment should not be declared illegal, and as to why the respondents should not be directed to appoint the writ petitioners.

Following the final hearing on the rule, the high court delivered the verdict on Wednesday.
