The High Court (HC) on Thursday issued a rule, asking the government to explain in four weeks as to why it shall not pass order to appoint a receiver to manage properties of Beximco Group.
The HC division bench of Justice AKM Asaduzzaman and Justice Muhammad Mahbub Ul Islam issued the rule after hearing a writ petition.
Barrister Masud R Sobhan moved the plea before the court, while Deputy Attorney General (DAG) Redwan Ahmed Ranjib argued for the state, reports BSS.
“The court in its rule also asked as to why it shall not pass order to Bangladesh Bank for providing information about all the companies of Beximco group, their outstanding debt and bringing back money laundered by the group abroad,” DAG Redwan Ahmed told newsmen.
The court asked Bangladesh Bank governor, finance secretary, Beximco Pharmaceuticals Limited, and its founder Salman F Rahman to respond to the rule.
