Dhaka Metropolitan Sessions Judge Md Asaduzzaman, who sentenced BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman to prison in a graft case, has received two letters threatening to kill him.

Court official of the Metropolitan Sessions Judge's Court Shah Md Mamun (Nazir) filed a General Diary (GD) with Kotwali Police Station regarding this issue.

Confirming the matter on Sunday, Shah Md Mamun said two letters were sent to the judge on the afternoon of October 17 threatening to kill him. Later, a general diary was filed with Kotwali police station.

The address of the person who sent one of the letters is given as Zahir Uddin of Saudia Park City in Sherpur under Bogura.

The letter said, "You have sentenced the icon of Bengal's youth Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman with a dramatic verdict. Just Wait.

“Just two pieces of cloth, one for yourself, the other for your family. Let's see how long the government protects you,” the letter reads.

In the other letter, the address is given as Hatem Ali Saudagar of Baritali of Chatogram Sadar Police Station.

The letter said, "You have wrongfully punished Tarique Rahman and his wife Zubaida Rahman. We sentence you to death. We will implement the trial soon. The youth of Bengal.”

Earlier, on August 2, Judge Md Asaduzzaman sentenced BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman to nine years in jail and his wife Zubaida Rahman to three years in jail on charges of amassing wealth beyond known sources of income and concealing information.
