Journalist Mozammel Haque Babu was shown arrested on Wednesday in connection with a murder case lodged with the city’s Badda Police Station during the student-mass upsurge.
In presence of the accused before the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Arfatul Rakib on Wednesday morning, the Investigating Officer (IO) sought to show him arrested in Touhidul Islam Bhuiyan murder case, reports BSS.
Touhidul was shot in front of Buddha Mandir area in Merul Badda of the capital on July 19. Being critically injured, he was admitted to Dhaka Medical College Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries later on July 21.
His wife Ismat Jahan filed a case in this regard with Badda Police Station against 113 including the ousted prime minister Sheikh Hasina.
Earlier, around 6am on September 16, journalists Mozammel Haque Babu and Shyamal Dutta were caught by locals from Dakshin Maizpara and Porakandulia border area in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh district.
Later, the duo was handed over to the Dhobaura Police Station.
Babu was put on a 7-day remand in Liza Akhter murder case on September 17.
