Pakistani citizen gets life imprisonment for carrying drugs

A court on Thursday convicted and sentenced a Pakistani citizen to life imprisonment and fined him Tk 20 thousand in a case lodged over the recovery of 10.50 kilograms of heroin.

Judge Iqbal Hossain of Dhaka Special Sessions Judge Court-5 pronounced the judgment in presence of Allah Bokhsh, 48, son of Elahi Bokhsh of Multan, Pakistan. He was later sent to jail with conviction warrant.

The court also acquitted another accused Md Harun, son of Abdur Rahman of Karachi, Pakistan, as he died in jail of natural causes during the trial period.

Airport Armed Police Battalion (AAPBn) detained Bokhsh and Harun at Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on February 27, 2013, and seized 10.50 kilograms of heroin, worth around Taka 10 crore, from their possessions.

Police on February 28 filed the case against them.
