A Dhaka court on Monday set April 16 for submitting the probe report in a case lodged over the sensational murder of Awami League leader Jahidul Islam Tipu and college student Samia Afrin Preeti in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area.
Monday was fixed for submitting the probe report, but the Investigation Officer (IO) of the case failed to submit it, prompting Metropolitan Magistrate (MM) Rajesh Chowdhury of the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate (CMM) Court to fix the date afresh.
Tipu, who was on his microbus destined for his home, was shot dead by a masked assailant group in the capital’s Shahjahanpur area at the night of March 24 last year. Rickshaw passenger Samia Afran Preeti was also killed in the incident at that time.
Tipu’s wife Farhana Islam Dolly filed the case with Shahjahanpur Police Station on March 25, 2022 in this connection.
The Detective Branch (DB) of the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) has arrested the main shooter Masum Mohammad alias Akash from Bogura. During primary interrogation, Masum confessed that he killed Tipu.
