A court here today set July 20 for submitting the probe report in a case lodged over the murder of Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Bir Bikram, who was killed on November 7, 1975.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Ali Haider passed the order, accepting a time plea from the investigation officer of the case.

On May 10, martyred Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda's daughter and lawmaker Nahid Ijhar Khan filed the case with capital's Sher-E-Bangla Nagar Police Station against Major (retd) Abdul Jalil of 10th East Bengal Regiment and 20/25 other unidentified persons.

The plaintiff in the case alleged that Colonel Khandaker Nazmul Huda, Major General Khaled Mosharraf, Bir Uttam, Lt Colonel ATM Haider, Bir Uttam, were gunned down by disgruntled members of Bangladesh Army at the then headquarters of the 10 East Bengal Regiment.

As the time after that killing was adverse for seeking justice, they had to wait so long, the plaintiff stated, adding, "Now that the government of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina is in power, I seek justice for my father and the other two martyred freedom fighters."
