A court on Monday sent to jail former general secretary of National Press Club and daily Bhorer Kagoj editor Shyamal Dutta in a case lodged over the murder of Fazlu in the capital’s Bhashantek area during the anti-discrimination student movement.
Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Mahbub Ahmed passed the order as police produced Shyamal before the court after the end of his seven-day remand in the case, reports BSS.
Earlier on September 16, Dutta along with journalist Mozammel Haque Babu were caught by locals from Dakshin Maizpara and Porakandulia border area in Dhobaura upazila of Mymensingh district. Later, the duo was handed over to the Dhobaura Police Station.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Md Sanaullah on September 17 placed Shyamal Dutta on seven-day remand in the case.
