A Cox’s Bazar court will announce the verdict in the murder case of retired army Major Sinha Md Rashed Khan on January 31.

After the prosecution and defense concluded their arguments, Judge Md Ismail of the Cox's Bazar District and Session Court set the date on Wednesday, said Public Prosecutor Faridul Alam.

Maj (retd) Sinha was killed at Shamlapur checkpost of Cox’s Bazar-Teknaf marine drive in Baharchara union on July 31.

On August 5, Sinha’s sister Sharmin Shahriar Ferdous filed a case with the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court of Teknaf against nine people including Teknaf police station's withdrawn Officer-in-Charge (OC) Pradeep Kumar Das and Baharchhara police outpost's Inspector Liakat Ali.

Later, on August 6, seven of the accused surrendered and sought bail from Senior Judicial Magistrate Muhang Helal Uddin’s court but were denied bail and sent to jail.
