Three Jamaat men remanded over attack on police

A court on Sunday placed three leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami on two-day remand each in a case filed with the capital's Shahjahanpur Police Station for allegedly attacking police.

The three remanded accused are- Mosharraf Hossain Chonchol, Sheikh Mohammad Masud and Md Khalid Hossain Khan.

Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Syed Mostafa Reza Nur passed the order as police produced the three before the court and pleaded to place them on 10-day police remand.

According to the case documents, leaders and activists of Jamaat and its student wing Chhatra Shibir brought out an anti-government procession in the Malibagh area on December 30. As the procession reached the Shahjahanpur area, they started vandalizing vehicles and throwing brickbats at police.
