A Dhaka judge Court has deferred verdict for the third time against Viqarunnisa School and College faculty members Nazneen Ferdous and Zinat Akhtar, in a case filed over abetting suicide of Aritri Adhikari – a 9th grader student of the institution.

Judge Abdullah Al Mamun of Dhaka 12th additional metropolitan sessions judge court was set to deliver the judgement on Sunday, but it is yet to be prepared. So, the court fixed April 9 for delivering this verdict.

On November 2 last year, after hearing both parties’ arguments, the court fixed January 21 to deliver the judgment, but that date was deferred to February 8. It was then deferred again to March 3.

Case documents show that on December 3, 2018, during an exam, a teacher found a phone from Aritri, and asked her to bring her parents to school on allegations of cheating in the exam.

When Dilip Adhikary went to school with his wife and daughter, the vice principal insulted them and asked them to leave.

When the family went to the principal's room, the principal behaved the same way. Aritri quickly left the principal's room and after returning home, her parents found her hanging from the ceiling fan.

The next day, her father Dilip Adhikary filed a case with Paltan Police Station accusing three teachers of provoking Aritri to commit suicide.

After the suicide of Aritri, Ministry of Education and school authority formed investigation committees and dismissed the three accused teachers, including the principle, when primary evidence was found.
