With Hasina, Mamoon, Nijhum too sued for murder

A murder case has been filed against 49 people, including former prime minister Sheikh Hasina over the killing of university admission seeker Touhidul Haque amid Boishommo Birodhi Chhatra Andolon movement.

Dhaka University teacher Muntasir Uddin Khan Mamoon alias Muntasir Mamoon, and Supreme Court lawyer Golam Maruf Majumdar alias Nijhum Majumdar also made it to the list of accused.

Tariqul Islam, elder brother of the deceased, sought permission from the court of Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate Nurul Huda Chowdhury on Wednesday to file a murder case. After accepting the plaintiff’s statement, the court directed Tejgaon police to accept the complaint.

Among the accused, there are – former ministers Obaidul Quader, Asaduzzaman Khan Kamal, Anisul Haque, Anwar Hossain Manju, Hasanul Haque Inu, Rashed Khan Menon, Shahjahan Khan, Hasan Mahmud, adviser to the former prime minister Salman F Rahman, former state minister Mohammad Ali Arafat, former IGP Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun, ex-police officers Haroon-or-Rashid, Biplab Kumar Sarkar, Habibur Rahman, and ex-lawmaker Sadek Khan.

Touhidul Haque – who was seeking admission to a university, was shot dead below the Farmgate foot over bridge under Tejgaon thana area on August 4.
